Need has no zip code.
Since our opening to the public in 2005, we have helped hundreds of local families with clothing, diapers, and other items for their children at a time when more and more parents are finding the month is longer than the money. While most of our families reside in Genesee County we do have those who travel in from Lapeer and Shiawassee counties as well.
Childhood safety is important to us so we have established a car seat fitting station, a safe sleep program that helps provide pack-n-plays, cribs and bassinets and a bicycle/helmet distribution opportunity in the summer.
We provide clothing, diapers, toys, furniture, and other items needed by families with children. All items are donated and are given away at no cost. Children's Clothing sizes: Newborn - 5T and 6x -16/18 as well as maternity clothes.
Our car seat fitting station (by appointment only). We provide a certified technician to help determine the best type of car seat for the child and to instruct the proper way to install car seats into the family vehicle and to ensure the child is properly restrained. If deemed necessary new free child passenger safety seats are available to the caregiver.
We are working on having our mobile unit back on the streets with MERV 2.0. This will replace the unit that was destroyed by fire in August of 2016. Our mobile unit allows us to serve those who do not have personal transportation, partner with other agencies and community groups (water distribution sites, food banks, etc.) and serve in emergency situations such as house fires and crisis foster placements.
