Volunteer orientation is a good way to understand how to check in and check out for your specific opportunity. We will use this as an example on how to respond to activities as well as how to check in and out using this system.

This is for instances where teachers or staff may ask you to do something unrelated to any of the opportunities listed on DTM's agency page. 

Are you looking for a way to be the change in your community? How would you like to spend your extra time mentoring students at a local elementary school? We are looking for dedicated students who are willing and want to help change the world. Durant-Tuuri-Mott elementary school is at risk of being overtaken by the state unless we get our student attendance up. You have the power to help us do that through our successful mentoring program. Your mentoring may very well be the only thing that these students look forward to and may be the only reason they have a desire to come to school on any given day. The work will be challenging since a lot of our students are dealing with real challenges in their personal life, but the work you do will be rewarding. You will be able to see their attendance improve and you will be able to be the role model they may not have in their life.

Mentors will be responsible for meeting with their mentee 2 days a week either during lunch time 11:50-1:10, or after school hours from 4:00-4:20pm. Training will be provided. Mentors will be responsible for meeting with their mentee for the remainder of the school year. 

Applicants will need to fill out an ICHAT form and be subjected to a background check which can take up to a month to be completed. 

Do you have students that attend our school? Do their teachers ask you to help out? Or do you just simply want to help out in a classroom directly? THIS is the opportunity for you! Help our teachers with day-to-day tasks and anything extra our awesome teaching staff may need.

Hello! We are looking to gain a consistent gardener for our warmer months. We need someone with some gardening experience to take on the task of planting, maintaining, and gathering fruit and vegetables from our garden. If you love to get your hands dirty and being one on one with nature, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Enjoy being able to work one-on-one with students or in small groups helping students with reading or math skills. The things volunteers work on will vary based on what the teachers think the strongest need in their classroom is. Volunteers are welcome during school hours for this opportunity, there is a separate response if volunteers want to help out after school with tutoring as well. 

Assist with delivering various activities and clubs with K-6 students during after school hours. 

Assist other staff members with a variety of different tasks during their lunch and learn activity. Be responsible for helping out the staff member and helping out the students with their tasks.  

You will be responsible for helping to refill our water throughout the school. The water containers are heavy and can be hard to lift into their container. Must be able to lift 20lbs or more.

It is typically needed on Wednesday morning before school or Fridays after school. 

Help the office with day to day tasks such as filing and data entry. Must be able to work with computers. If you still want to help in schools, but might not want to work one on one with children, this would be a great opportunity for you!
