We are looking for someone to serve take-out lunches out our backdoor to clients. This position involves helping prepare lunches in the morning and then serving the lunches. The Server will use a drop box system so that they are compliant with COVID-19 safety precautions, greet clients in a friendly manner and fill out a data sheet with client's zip codes, how many lunches served and the number in their household. At the end of the day, Servers will help with some light cleaning.

This position requires someone who is friendly and outgoing, meticulous, has problem solving and critical thinking skills, can do some light lifting and willing to work as a team player. We also need someone who is not afraid to enforce the rules of the Soup Kitchen, i.e. not letting folks inside the building without an appointment, etc.

We are looking for volunteers to help in our kitchen preparing sack lunches to serve to clients out the backdoor. This person would be responsible for light cleaning and preparing lunches, making up snacks, bagging other food items and helping in general with the functions of the Soup Kitchen. 

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, friendly, a team player, someone who can handle some light lifting, and willing to be flexible and work in other areas as needed.

SOUTH FLINT SOUP KITCHEN IS A PLACE FOR EVERYONE, ALL ARE WELCOME!

Provide a warm, friendly greeting to all donors Instruct and make donor comfortable in registration procedures Maintain smooth flow of donors into donation area Be alert and notify Red Cross staff if a donor does not appear to be feeling well Offer refreshments and conversation Explain importance of blood donations and encourage people to donate regularly Help schedule appointments for the next blood drive Set up and maintain cleanliness in canteen area Screen blood donors for any health concerns

Goal: To assist Help Center Manager, Site Supervisor and Center partners with providing food, water-related supplies/filters, educational opportunities, on-site enrollment for health and basic-needs services, employment resources, mental and physical health options, and community resource information to Flint residents affected by our water/lead crisis.

Outline of activities, tasks and responsibilities:
• Arrive for shift at the schedule time and sign-in.
• Assist with set-up for the food distribution
• Assist with set-up for the community partners’ resource stations
• Assist with packing and distribution of resource and/or food bags
• Assist with water distribution when available
• Direct visitors to the various stations of the help center
• Assist with break-down and clean-up for food distribution and resource stations
• Interact with residents in a friendly, positive, happy and professional manner
• Report any complaints/problems to the site supervisor.

Time Requirement
• Shifts are 8:00 to 2:00
• Minimum one shift per week, maximum three shifts per week
o Monday – Bethel UMC 1309 N. Ballenger HWY
o Tuesday – Asbury UMC 1653 Davison Rd
o Thursday – Greater Holy Temple COGIC 6702 N. Dort Hwy

• Volunteers report directly to Help Center manager and/or site supervisor
