Who We Are

Mission: Genesee County Prevention Coalition (GCPC) executes innovative strategies and unites communities in preventing substance misuse and promoting mental wellness throughout Genesee County.

At Genesee County Prevention Coalition, we are a diverse group of individuals and organizations working together to prevent and reduce mental health and substance use disorders. We believe in our responsibility to ensure healthy, safe, and productive lives for all Genesee County residents. By assessing community needs, building capacity, planning strategically, implementing effective programs, and continuously improving our efforts, we provide essential information and resources to support the well-being of our community through innovative strategies and partnerships.

What We Do

GCPC offers several programs aimed at preventing substance misuse and promoting mental wellness:

  • Underage Drinking Awareness: Educating the community about the risks and consequences of underage drinking.
  • Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention: Addressing the misuse of prescription medications through awareness campaigns and safe disposal programs.
  • Partnership for Success: Collaborating with local organizations to reduce substance misuse among youth and young adults.
  • Drug-Free Communities: Engaging in community-wide efforts to prevent substance use and promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Screen4Success: Implementing screening tools to identify and address substance use issues early.
  • End Menthol: Advocating for the removal of menthol-flavored tobacco products to reduce smoking rates.
  • Talk. They Hear You.: A national campaign to help parents and caregivers start conversations with their children about the dangers of underage drinking and other substances.
  • 3rd Millennium Classrooms: Collaborating with local courts, schools, and youth-serving organizations to provide youth with conduct violations second chance behavioral prevention and intervention on-line courses through 3rd Millennium Classrooms.
