Flint National Service Accelerator

The Flint National Service Accelerator promotes national service resources to Genesee County through technical assistance to local organizations and national service members. The Accelerator promotes:

– AmeriCorps State/National

– AmeriCorps VISTA

– AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps)

– AmeriCorps Seniors (RSVP, Senior Companions, and Foster Grandparents)

AmeriCorps engages more than 80,000 Americans in intensive service each year in nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country.

Members receive a living stipend, educational award, health coverage, and other benefits of serving including training, networking and professional development. 

– AmeriCorps State/National: AmeriCorps State/National members serve in a variety of local and national organizations committed to addressing critical community needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. Members provide direct service for the duration of their full-time service commitment

– AmeriCorps VISTA: AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. They focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities.

– AmeriCorps NCCC: AmeriCorps NCCC members travel the country strengthening communities and developing leadership skills on diverse teams. Members serve full-time for 10 months to address community needs and respond to disasters.

– Reading Corps (literacy tutoring with K-3 graders)
