Visit with patients in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in your neighborhood. Bring a smile to a patient by spending time with them, reading, singing, playing a board game or just "being there."
A Hospice Volunteer doesn't do any direct patient care-- that's what our professionals do. Instead, our volunteers provide companionship by sitting, listening, talking to and playing games with patients. Being a hospice volunteer is one of the easiest and most rewarding things you can do. Matches are made local to you and only require as little as one hour one time a week.
You will feel great, it is non-fattening, and doesn't cost anything! Training provided.
What's it take to become a volunteer? An application, two personal references, a background check, finger printing, a TB test, and some brief training (all done free of charge).
