Would you like an opportunity to help others and give back to your community? Have you ever thought about volunteering for Hospice? Did you know that Volunteers are the Heart and Soul of Hospice Care? As a Hospice Volunteer, you are an important, integral member of the team! Hospice provides care and comfort to people with terminal illnesses and provides support to their families, friends, and caregivers.
As a Volunteer, you can help in many ways! If you are at least 14 years old, you can be a Youth Office Volunteer, assisting us with various Office Administrative Duties. If you are at least 18 years old, you can be a Direct Patient Volunteer. These Volunteers visit patients and families, providing care and support through companionship and conversation, reading, writing letters, listening to music, watching movies & TV, playing games, offering care to the pets of the patients and families, helping with light household tasks or yard work, and even sharing hobbies!
High School and College/University students will receive Volunteer Credit! We are also looking for Volunteers with experience as professional beauticians and massage therapist. We are also interested in volunteers who have Certified Pet Therapy animals.
Volunteers are only limited by their imaginations, so if you have a skill or interest that is not listed here, please contact us. We would love to meet with you and find out more about how we can work together and how you can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most!
We provide a comprehensive 10 hour orientation and training, so if you don't have any experience with Hospice, don't worry - we'll give you everything you'll need to be the best Volunteer you can be! Any time commitment big or small is appreciated! We do require a background check, (2) TB tests, and drug screen. Please contact Heather Fronrath, Volunteer Coordinator at Grace Hospice.
