Note: This is a 1-year, full-time AmeriCorps position.
The Education Coordinator position is a full-time role bringing during and after school educational programming - specifically tutoring and college positive mentoring - to Community Schools as a means to ensure that students are successfully completing each grade, graduating from 12th grade on time, and are prepared for a post-secondary option. Members are provided with extensive training and serve alongside teachers, school administrators, and other National Service members to implement academic enrichment programs.
Member duties include:
*Delivering learning activities before/after school, during lunch, and over summer for students K-12 in areas of reading, science, technology, engineering, arts, and math
*Supporting K-8 youth through STEAM summer programming *Developing service-learning lessons related to curriculum and opportunities to connect to the community

About the Flint Community Schools Corps: The Crim Fitness Foundation supports a Community Schools Corps made up of AmeriCorps members and NCCC teams who provide during and after-school and summer learning activities for K-12 grade students and build capacity for community education in all Flint Community Schools schools. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve in schools and create systems to connect the school administration, parents, social service supports and community members in ways that improve academic outcomes, and recruit and manage a core pool of parent and community volunteers to help deliver during and after-school and summer programs.
