Founded in 1990, Genesee County Habitat for Humanity is one of nearly 1,400 United States affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat’s mission is to work in partnership with people everywhere to eliminate substandard & overcrowded housing through affordable home-ownership. In 2015, Genesee County Habitat for Humanity was named as an Affiliate of Distinction for 2015-2017, placing the organization in the top 1% of Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the nation for its high standards in excellence, leadership, and innovation. Since its founding Genesee County Habitat for Humanity has built or renovated over 152 homes throughout Genesee County. GCHFH builds new homes and renovates existing homes for those who do not qualify for conventional financing. It then sells these homes to Homeownership Partner’s through a very affordable, 20-30 year mortgage product. We could not do any of this without our volunteers, doners, and partners.
