Mass Transportation Authority

Who We Are

Mission: To transport all the people in Genesee County who desire public transportation services through an integrated system that is safe, efficient, affordable and responsive.

The Mass Transportation Authority (MTA) serves as the public transit operator for Flint, Michigan, and the surrounding Genesee County. Established in 1971, the MTA began operations with a fleet of 26 buses, offering hourly service across 12 routes within the city.

What We Do

Services Offered:

  • Fixed Routes: The MTA operates 14 primary routes throughout Flint, providing scheduled bus services to various neighborhoods and key locations.
  • Regional Routes: These routes offer direct round-trip connections to destinations outside of Genesee County, facilitating regional travel.
  • Your Ride Services: Designed for individuals unable to use fixed-route bus services, this program offers paratransit services to ensure accessibility for all residents.
  • Specialized Services: The MTA provides services such as Senior Shopper, Ride to Groceries, and Rides to Wellness, catering to specific community needs.

Throughout its history, the MTA has continually expanded and modernized its services and infrastructure to meet the evolving transportation needs of the Flint community.
