Special Guest Instructor Lauren Skinner

Lauren Skinner, an Owosso native, currently lives in Chicago, where she attends

Kendall College at National Louis University. Previously known as Cupcakes by Lauren,

Lauren found a love for baking as a fourteen-year-old and started her brand and baking

business. Throughout high school, she continued on to bake, create, and grow a

passion for baking and the world of food. Featured on ABC12 News and the Argus

Press, she grew a public following where she became persistent in keeping up to date

with her latest creations. Through her baking, she had many opportunities to build

dessert tables for weddings, birthdays, graduations, and other special occasions that

motivated her to continue to use food as a way to celebrate all aspects of life. Now, after

working for Bea’s Bakery and Somerset at Viceroy Chicago, she works as a pastry cook

at Apolonia, a restaurant in Chicago. Approaching her graduation next spring, she

constantly finds ways to use food and dessert to connect, inspire, and start

conversations amongst people of all backgrounds.
