Hospital Elder Life Program VolunteerÂ
HELP encompasses a group of specialized volunteers trained to assist senior patients with mobility and basic needs. During the day, they engage with patients at the bedside in activities like cards, trivia, music or reading, plus provide companionship and assistance with feeding at mealtimes. At night, the volunteers work with healthcare providers to help promote
relaxation through music, dimmed lights and a light massage. The program is designed to prevent delirium, falls and functional decline
in patients 70 and older, with the ultimate goal of ensuring they retain their maximum level of independence upon returning to their communities.
