Each year, letter carriers across the country head out on their routes on the second Saturday in May to collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit local food pantries. Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States.
When the letter carriers return to their post offices, we need volunteers to unload the food they collected and put them in the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan's trucks. Please dress in comfortable shoes, and plan to lift bags of food items and carry them. The shift is listed until 8pm, but it is likely you will be finished before 7pm in most cases. Please note you will be outside, so plan accordingly in case of rain.
You will be stationed at the SE Annex located at 4065 Manor Drive.
