It’s been 25 years since the 9/11 attacks, and every year on the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, Americans from all walks of life honor those we lost and the heroes who helped us persevere through SERVICE. Together, we help strengthen our nation and inspire a new generation of civic-minded Americans. As we commemorate this anniversary, let’s remember our shared promise - made 25 years ago - to NEVER FORGET -so those born after 9/11 learn its significance and enduring legacy. We hope you will join us and bring your family to UNITE IN SERVICE.
This year we will join thousands across America who will clean headstones and beautify 140+ VA National Cemeteries. Located approximately 15 minutes from Flint, Great Lakes National Cemetery is the second national cemetery built in Michigan and the 122nd in the national cemetery system. The NCA provides burial space for Veterans and their eligible family members, and maintains national cemeteries as national shrines, sacred to the honor and memory of those interred or memorialized there.
Dress is casual and respectful. No open toe shoes or tank tops. We will be outside so, be mindful of the weather. No pets please. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult
Upon completion of your service, a Jersey Mike's box lunch will be provided. We hope you sit and enjoy it together as we remember all we lost but also gained from 9/11.
