Description

It’s been more than two decades since the 9/11 attacks, and every year on the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, Americans from all walks of life honor those we lost and the heroes who helped us persevere through service. Together, we help strengthen our nation and inspire a new generation of civic-minded Americans

This year we will join thousands across America who will clean headstones and beautify VA National Cemeteries. We will travel together by bus to the Great Lakes Cemetery. (Please note we are doing this as they are not able to accomodate parking.) During your service time, we will be asking some to do a short video. We want a few sentences from many volunteers that we will put together as one video. You can consider talking about:

  • What were you doing when you heard the news?
  • What memory of that day stays with you the most?
  • How has the world changed since 9/11?
  • Did you have a family member or friend directly impacted?
  • What comes to mind when we say 9/11? (Especially for those younger or not born in 2001.)
  • Or anything else that comes to mind

Upon completion of your service, a box lunch will be provided before we bring the bus back to the United Way office at 111 E. Court st.
