Baker College of Flint is seeking volunteers to help with the 2016 Martin Luther King Day of service. Projects will be offered in the Student Center of the main building (Undergraduate Studies Building) starting at 10:00 am and running until 3:00 pm. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Volunteers can select from the following service projects:
1. Assembling personal needs bags for the Shelter of Flint. Volunteers are needed to sort and assemble travel sized personal needs products into quart sized zip-loc bags. We hope to assemble 200-250 bags for the Shelter of FLint to distribute to those in need.
2. Making no-sew fleece blanket for sick children to be donated to Project Linus. We will make 30 single layer fleece blankets. Volunteers are asked to bring scissors if they have them.
3. Crocheting plastic shopping bags into sleeping mats for the homeless. Volunteers are needed to cut plastic bags into strips and assemble plastic yarn as well as crochet the mats. Volunteers are asked to bring scissors and a size 11 crochet hook if they have them
4. Blood Drive through the Red Cross. Please donate blood between Noon and 5:30 pm. All volunteers who come to donate blood will receive a commemorative 2016 MLK Day pin. The Blood Drive is located in the GYM.
5. Donate winter hats or gloves to the Shelter of FLint. Please bring in a new winter hat or gloves to contribute to our collection.
