Do you want to make a lasting impressing on Flint Community Schools students' and families'? This year, at Neithercut Elementary, we are streamlining our efforts to introducing more STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities. The Cranbrook Institute of Science will host a Family Science Day on Thursday, November 16, 2017, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. The Community Education team of Neithercut Elementary are looking for twelve, dedicated volunteers to assist with introducing activities to all participants. See below for descriptions of some of our table opportunities.
Science Activities
DINOSAURS
Grade Level: K 1 2 3
Hold a dinosaur fossil, learn how dinosaurs adapted to their surroundings and dig for fossils like a paleontologist in this program designed for younger students.
ROCKS, MINERALS & FOSSILS
Grade Level: 3 4 5 6 7 8
Using Cranbrook’s world-class rock and mineral collection and authentic fossils, students will learn about the formation of rocks and minerals. They will also engage in an activity investigating the rock cycle.
* Many other opportunities will be provided at event.
Volunteer Expectations
* Must report to Neithercut Elementary Gymnasium no later than 3:30 P.M. for a brief training session.
* Required to clean presentation area after event end time.
* Expected to sign up for ONE science demonstration table.
