Description

Become a Literacy Volunteer and Make a Real Difference

Want to help someone learn to read, earn a GED, or gain confidence in English? Join the Volunteer Tutor Alliance—a grassroots effort bringing together everyday people to support adult learners across Genesee County. We match volunteer tutors with learners in a variety of settings: one-on-one sessions, Adult Learning Centers (ALCs), and even community spaces like libraries or local nonprofits. You don’t need to be a teacher—just someone who cares. We’ll give you all the training and support you need, including a welcoming onboarding process, ongoing workshops, and tools aligned with statewide best practices. As a tutor, you’ll become part of a bigger movement—a coordinated network working to expand adult literacy, open doors to opportunity, and build stronger communities. Whether your learner is studying for the GED, building English skills, or working toward a 100-hour learning goal, your time and support can change their life. Ready to get started? Join us in making literacy possible for everyone.
