Description

The Neighborhood Engagement Hub is working with resident leaders and neighborhood groups throughout the city of Flint to host a city-wide cleanup day this Saturday, May 15. During the city-wide cleanup, community residents and neighborhood groups will be completing projects on more than 29 sites throughout the city’s nine wards.

The city-wide cleanup is made possible thanks to funds from the Mott Foundation’s Focus on Flint Initiative.  The Mott Foundation granted $82,147 to the Neighborhood Engagement Hub to coordinate neighborhood cleanups in Flint through the “Place dumpsters throughout the city during designated times of the year (e.g., spring cleaning and fall winterizing)” priority.

Funds awarded to the Neighborhood Engagement Hub were divided among the city’s nine wards for a cleanup in the spring (May 15) and the fall (tentatively scheduled September 18). Each group of residents selected materials needed for their cleanup sites, including, dumpsters, lawn bags, trash pickers, rakes and other materials.

The Neighborhood Engagement Hub is still recruiting volunteers to join cleanups at various sites throughout the city. Each ward will have a primary check-in site, where volunteers will check-in and complete our COVID-19 screening before spreading out to various locations across the ward.

The attached flyer contains all of the primary check-in locations by ward, but this link is specifically intended for those who want to register for the Ward 5 cleanup. If you want to register for a different ward, please see the links provided on the flyer.

Please join us for this wonderful opportunity to fight blight in Flint!
