Join Flint National Service Accelerator AmeriCorps members at Center for Hope for the Accelerator Kickoff + 9/11 Day of Remembrance and Service Wednesday, September 11.
Beginning at 8:30 am, we’ll kick off the new program year with our first monthly Accelerator Meeting. Get to know your fellow AmeriCorps members serving throughout Flint and Genesee County with our networking coffee hour.
Immediately following the meeting, we’ll partner with Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties for our 9/11 day of service. This event is required for AmeriCorps members. We’ll spend the rest of the day supporting Center for Hope and North End Soup Kitchen through service. Possible tasks include:
- Preparing food
- Organizing pantries
- Serving meals
- Sorting donations
- Organizing warehouse
- Improving facility grounds
- Creating plarn, plastic yarn to be made into mats for people experiencing homelessness (low-mobility project)
- Creating laundry soap for use by clients in Catholic Charities laundry facility (low-mobility project)
Transportation provided for those serving at North End Soup Kitchen. Lunch provided to all.
