Dr. King said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” Start helping others by serving from home on #MLKDay of Service. COVID-19 has had impact on all of our lives, but there are many ways to still serve. With this is mind we have created some virtual opportunities for you to participate in right at home with your family on MLK Day.
Supplies needed: Plastic water/juice/tea bottle, clear or glitter glue or corn syrup, glitter, food coloring, super glue, goo gone, buttons, or any extra trinkets you might have in your craft supplies. (You do not have to have every item.)
We hope you will use the video we have created for you on MLK Day to both celebrate the life & legacy of Dr. King, and to make a calming bottle. Please be sure to share pictures of you and your family in action on your social media accounts. Use #MLKDay and tag the United Way of Genesee County. We hope to share your service with others to encourage volunteerism.
Once you have completed the project we ask that you email Diane Woodruff at dwoodruff@unitedwaygenesee.org with some feedback.
- How many of you participated?
- How long did you engage in the activity?
- How many did you complete?
- Pictures would be great!
These metrics are useful to us in continuing to receive funding so that we can provide more opportunities in the future. Thank you for joining us for our virtual MLK Day of Service this year.
